The formal proceedings of National Safety Month 2026 at NLC India commenced with the hoisting of the Safety Flag by Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India Limited, at the corporate office lawn. The flag hoisting ceremony is a longstanding tradition that symbolises the organisation's institutional commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, health, and environmental responsibility across its mining, power generation, and ancillary operations.

The ceremony set a solemn and purposeful tone for the month ahead, signalling to employees at all levels that safety observance at NLC India is driven from the top — with the organisation's highest authority personally leading the symbolic commencement of the campaign.

Prior to the flag hoisting, Hemant Kumar, Executive Director (Safety), delivered the welcome address for the event.
